Laryngitis

“Breathe Easy” reads the sign across the river,

Where ironically begs a wheezing man.

Desperately pleading with every shiver

To fill his somewhat empty can.

Crowds pass him by without even a glance

Every face plastered with the same blank stare.

He lets out a whistle and even a dance

But their high-class minds were taught not to care.

He thought to himself, ” Now they shall all see

The world surrounding them with open eyes”

Dancing and wheezing he summoned the sea,

Unaware of his closeness to his strange demise.

Aberrantly, the waves crashed all around him

Yet the man continued his toilsome jig

The people continued on still tilting their brims

As if the man were as daunting as a dead pig.

Abruptly the beggar was swept from his feet

By a creature from the ocean below

He was torn to pieces in this great defeat

certainly the sea’s most recent hallow.

Luckily, the man never had to see that they were all still blind

As his very last breath was robbed by a whale oh so kind.
